A man named Mohammad was killed on October 28 during a fight with Yaghoobi in the Western Tehran neighborhood of Saadatabab. Mohammad was left to bleed to death on a busy street corner while panicked onlookers, including two policemen, did nothing to help. According to media reports, the two men, both in their 20s, were arguing over the girl they both wanted to marry. Yaghoob Ali had recently finished a three-year prison sentence. Upon his release, he discovered that the girl he was engaged to before his arrest had decided to marry another man, Yazdan. Furiously, he challenged Yazdan to meet him on the corner of Kaj Square Street. Witnesses then said the two men began arguing violently, and at one point, Ali pulled out a knife and stabbed Yazdan in the stomach.
